What to expect at your First Visit

Children Age 1-3: We will do an orientation with your child. We will do a brief exam to check your child's growth and development. We will then review preventative care and diet recommendations with the parents.

Age 3 to 21: We will start with a cleaning, appropriate x-rays as needed, and fluoride treatment. We will then do an exam and review preventative care.

Age 21 and over: We have found it important to spend 1 to 2 hours with you on the first visit doing a comprehensive exam. This will include evaluating your jaw joints, muscles, oral cancer screening, condition of your teeth and existing restorations, gums and bone levels around teeth. X-rays, study models, and diagnostic photographs of your teeth may also be taken as needed. The level of cleaning appropriate for your needs will be determined. Depending upon the level of cleaning needed, the cleaning may be completed during the initial visit or scheduled for a subsequent visit. We will develop a treatment plan which addresses your concerns while helping you achieve and maintain good dental health for a lifetime.

Financial Arrangements and Insurance

FEES AND PAYMENTS
You will be given an estimate of treatment costs before beginning procedures so that you can make financial arrangements. Payment is due when treatment is rendered (Patients who have dental insurance are requested to pay their estimated portion). For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, cash and checks. We can also provide assistance in obtaining financing through Care Credit if you prefer to set up a payment plan.

INSURANCE
As a courtesy to our patients, we will file insurance claims on your behalf. We will collect the amount that we estimate insurance will not cover at the time treatment is provided. This is only an estimate - not a guarantee - and sometimes we must either bill or refund the difference after insurance has made their decision on payment. Please understand that your insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company and the ultimate responsibility for managing that relationship rests with the patient. Our aim is to help you maximize the insurance benefits that your employer has provided to cover a portion of your dental care. Dental plans are designed to share in the cost of your dental care, not to completely pay for those costs. The amount your plan pays is determined by an agreement negotiated between your employer and the insurance company. Your dental coverage is determined not by your dental needs- but by how much your employer contributes to the plan. Our recommendations are based on your individual health conditions and not on what insurance will pay.

We choose not to be an in-network provider so that we may make decisions based on your health, as opposed to making treatment decisions which save an insurance company money. By not being an in-network provider, we can reserve adequate time for each patient so that we can carefully listen to our patients and deliver the high quality care that each person deserves.
